Children who are read to at home perform better in school. Designed to encourage families to read with their young children and develop a vital home/school connection, Home Booking includes everything needed to help develop lifelong readers—books, bags, and family fun!
Sets include
- 5 to 10 featured books
- an activity card for each book to guide the adult/child interaction
- a record card with a tracking sheet and due-date reminder
- a carrying bag for each book
- a parent letter for each book with a book synopsis and discussion questions (sets 5–7 only)
Components
Featured Book
Each set includes 5 to 10 featured books in your choice of paperback or durable, economical Cover Craft.
Activity Cards
Help guide the adult/child interaction with activities, questions, and recipes that extend the theme of the featured book. Many are available in both English and Spanish.
You and Your Child: Reading Together
This informative, reproducible parent booklet includes helpful suggestions for reading at home. Provided in both English and Spanish.
Record Card
This reproducible card features a tracking sheet and due-date reminder for the teacher or librarian.
Carrying Bag
This sturdy plastic bag houses all of the components.
Teacher Letter
This letter explains the program and offers management tips.
