The Living Environment Biology
Students learn to think like a scientist—observing, questioning, testing, and explaining
Diagrams and illustrations highlight and enhance important ideas and themes.
The text is centered on six main themes—evolution; energy, matter and organization; maintaining a dynamic equilibrium; reproduction, growth and development; genetics and molecular biology; and interaction and interdependence.
Chapters begin with a brief introduction to the main topic and a list of learning objectives. Topical questions assess students' reading comprehension and knowledge. Mid-chapter and end-of-chapter question sets include multiple-choice, constructed response, and reading comprehension to prepare students for end-of-course examinations. Chapters conclude with an inquiry-oriented Laboratory Investigation with thought-provoking questions.
The Teacher Manual includes an answer key, teacher resources, and laboratory investigations to help teachers guide students in learning important biology topics and concepts. Lesson plans are tailored to each of the 28 chapters.
